TMI Thursday: A Shredded Shower Sissy.

So, today I went to Esther's house and we did my day 3 and her day 4 of the 30-Day Shred! I forgot my camera so I can only show you a picture of how freakin' excited I was to be at her house, and I took this with my iPhone.

Don't worry, tomorrow I'll have a proper picture of us together! :)

I seriously think there are tons more of you guys who are doing the shred with us but I can't remember who all is doing it or not doing it. Let me know in the comments if you're shreddin' it up too! We're all gonna be svelt for the holidays, baby.

So, I'm sore. Like, ridic sore. Like, it hurts to brush my hair and put on a hoodie and stand up from the couch or sit down to pee. I'm looking forward to not being so sore and so freakin' outta shape.

I'm also a bit disappointed because I've gained a few pounds. I've heard that happens when you start doing strength training because all the tears in your muscles retain extra water. I just need to keep going and push through. I was feeling all motivated to go to the gym after we shredded today, but I felt really light headed on the drive home, so I decided to go home and eat lunch and not push it. Maybe I can get in Zumba tomorrow night. That'd be cool. I've really been feeling a desire to run and/or do the elliptical lately. It's all the Biggest Loser I've been watching, I'm sure.

So, anyway, I'm going to expand. I've had some questions asking how the shred is going. I figured the best way to show you all what it feels like is with a quick video. And it's totally TMI, 'cause it shows me working out, and it shows me in the shower. Don't get too scared... I'm not showing my nudie bits.

And just in case it's not TMI enough for you, here's a picture of me with twizzler bits stuck up my nose so I can smell them and not have to eat them.

Allrighty, here we go. And since this isn't quite the normal TMI type material, be sure to visit LiLu's blog (click the button) for all the fabulous and horrible and nasty and awesome TMI Thursday stories.

TMI Thursday

OH! And I have to say that this video was completely inspired by my sexy mama girlfriend lovah cute faced partner in crime, Sue, over at Did I Just Eat That Outloud. Depart forth with over yonder to check out the awesomeness that is her blog after you watch my vid. <3

AH! Love it. I'm glad I wasn't alone in the 30 day shred aching. Unfortunately it was ON day 3 that I "gave up". Lemme tell ya...I wasn't "sitting" down on the couch or "sitting" down to pee. I would say letting myself FALL would be better terminology. Quite a funny thought if you think about that visual. :)
I'm only 5'4" and 170 lbs...the heaviest I have ever been. And though I'm not huge, I'm still the one watching biggest loser every week...with a bowl of brownies and ice cream in hand [hating myself]. But I have to say, reading your tweets and your blog do inspire me. They are giving me that spark that is slowly turning into a fire blazing under my bum to make me get up and do something about it. I can't tell you how many people ask me at work if I'm pregnant! Last week a co-worker actually told my hubby congratz b/c we were expecting...so very discouraging and does a number on my self-image.
Keep up the awesome work. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

Great video...I was the one who asked you if you thought the 30-Day Shred might be available at Target (thanks for the reply, BTW!).

Up until now, I didn't know what the 30 Day Shred looked like. From watching your excerpt, I think my quads are going to kill me.

Do people run or do other cardio in addition to "shredding"? Or is cardio built into it? I don't know if I'll be able to do both.

Final question: Are there rest days? Or do you shred continuously for 30 days?

I still immediately think of carrots when I hear the word shredding!

Good luck with your recuperation. A heating pad may sound a bit geriatric, but it can also become your new best friend. Oh yeah, don't worry about the "weight" gain if you've recently upped your activity level. I've been on so many diets, I can predict it now. First 2 weeks of working out, the scale will go up (just when you want to see IMMEDIATE results). After 2 weeks, the extra water will drop off. Happens every time.

You go get it, my shredding advisor!

I didnt know you had your tongue pierced! I had mine done twice, I have the longest tongue anyone I show to has ever seen. LOL I dont have it anymore, but I miss it, I used to like to put it between my teeth if that makes sense.

Congrats on shredding, Jillians a biotch!

I've been reading you for ages but haven't ever posted before. Today I just had to leave a comment because that video made me smile and giggle so much. I do the whole "use frozen food instead of an icepack" thing too :) This video was so fun and your blog is ace. You rule!

You're doing so good, and I loved it when you were flipping her off! I know that feeling.
You're making me want to exercize now Jenn, you'll have to stop it with all this inspiring crap :p
Also, you are gonna be so smokin for Santa!

Love your blog - thanks for making us all feel normal! I was supposed to start my shred on Monday, BUT, during a fun time of ice skating I fell and cracked a couple of ribs. My shred will have to wait until I can move and breathe. I'm with you in mind and spirit Jen, so keep it up! Will be with with you physically soon enough!

Lol...I am sooo with you on having my thighs in so much pain that it kills me to pee. I love when Jillian tells you to keep doing the jumping jacks because even 400 pound people can do them...it just fuels the fire when you feel as though you are about to fall over and die. Super fun! Thanks for the idea to do the Shred. I'm doing it too and I will be posting about it on nmsanford.blogspot.com

Okay, first I'm so so so sorry for laughing during the video (even tho you couldn't hear me). The broccoli and fries cracked me up and but are an excellent idea! I've already ordered my 30 day shred video and am gung-ho to give it a shake! Of course, you'll probably find me flipping off Jullian as well. Good Luck! You are an inspiration!

This was hilarious. Don't give up, power through the Shred! Are you doing Level 3? That looks like level 3. If you're really sore one day or really tired you can go down a level. Although I HATED Level 2 with the fiery passion of 1,000 suns. Jillian can take her fucking plank poses and shove them up her tight ass!

Whoa.

MegFordice said...

Oh, and Biggest Loser on Tuesday night was amazing!

*spoiler*

I can't believe they all completed a marathon! Made me want to cry!

I've been doing The Shred for two months and I LOVE IT!!!! I cannot tell you how it has changed my body and my idea of working out. In the last 1 1/2 years I've lost about 100lbs. I did it without dieting; just smaller portions and working out like a demon. I was pretty happy with where I was before I began The Shred, but after about a week of daily shredding I started to see changes. real changes. By the time I hit level 2 (I did about 15 days on each level and now do level 3 5x a week) I was amazed. I'm still in need of some major toning, but I cannot stop shredding. Julianne Michaels is a freakin'GODDESS.

Sigh. I really need to get on that bandwagon... but it just looks so OWIE.

Hi Jen!
I LOVE reading your blog - you are definitely an inspiration to me! After watching your video, I decided it was time for me to own the 30-day shred also, so I just placed my order online and I should be receiving it next week!
Keep up the awesome work and thanks for keeping me entertained and inspired! :)

First of all your face looks super skinny in your extreme happy face pic.

Second, I don't normally get debilitatingly sore, but there was this one time I did kettlebells and I almost died. I just about had those safety bars installed next to the toilet (because it's too much work to undress and jump in the shower to pee everytime, right?)

We've also got Tammy @ http://tammys-tale.blogspot.com/ and a couple more of her girlfriends as well!

I'm thinkin I'm going to bump up to level 2 at the end of the week here, I'm not jiggly in the legs and sore anymore!

I'm on D6 of my Shred torture. Loving every minute of it though (sick I know... ).

LOVED the video. :) I've been doing the Shred since the 1st, but I'm not sure I'll JUST do the Shred for 30 days. I get bored really fast, and I like my other videos, too. So I'm shooting for some form of exercise every day in December. (And I'm totally counting a walk on Christmas Day! LOL!)

Wow. You just upped the ante with the whole shower scene.

And by the way, why do you have FRIES IN YOUR FREEZER??

You are superfantastic and I loved the video and the foot pjs, and I'm gonna have to pick up the 30 day shred video and try to get a good week in before my little black dress night next Saturday. You have inspired me.

I love the 30 day shred!! I guess I talk about it a lot because 3 of my friends went out and bought the DVD!! Lots of luck!!!

Hahaha! The little captions on the video as you did your workout cracked me up!

MB said...

I loved the shred video. Hopefully by the time you make it to day 30 you won't feel so much pain and can leave the broccoli and fries in the freezer.

You rock!

MMM said...

LOL!!! I am so not laughing because you are in pain, I am so laughing at you and the frozen veggies! LOL!!! How long is the work out video? I am not sure if I could last the whole time! Do you ever cheat?

C said...

don't eat those fries!

Natalie said...

This was awesome. I think I will go out and try the 30 day Shred too. Your video was hilarious... loved every minute of it. Too funny. Keep it up.

Chuck said...

Jen...where do I start? Your face looks amazing and that's even with crappy lighting and jumpy video. It was a pleasure to get to hear you for a change.

I have to say I laughed my ass off (that's a different exercise than the Shred) at your captioning and the flipping off of the instructor...then I literally fell backwards out of my chair and bonked my head on the floor when I heard and saw the fries and broccoli strapped to your legs! I damn near needed Life Alert AND the Himlich!

The shower scene had that "munchin Psycho Hitchcock thing" going on...that's to say hot and disturbing at the same time. As with most shower scenes it never lasts long enough...LOL.

Great job!

Chuck

Oh Jenn, I love reading your blog and you are so inspiring... but you have just convinced me that I am NOT going to do that shred for a very long time. I started my weight loss at 142kg (312.4 pds)and am now 136.7kg (300.7pds).

Kirsty said...

I bought the DVD yesterday, but woke up feeling like I had been hit by a truck (and I haven't even opened the thing yet!).. off to a fantastic start aren't I?! Hopefully I can start before next week. I think I'm well stocked on frozen veggies so I should be good :D

I love reading your blog. You keep me inspired to stay on top of my own weight loss, and I definitely need that!

I would love to get the 30 day shred video. It looks easy but I know that 10 minutes in I'd be sweating bullets and cursing my fat ass hahaha.

I LOVE That you strapped those frozen foods to your legs hahaha. That is the best thing I've seen in a long time.

Totally loved your video, glad Im not the only one Fliping Jillian off. I am on day 4 of my 3rd attempt at the full 30 days. This time my legs are much more sore.

I just had to comment on this post 'cause OMG you linked me! At first I was, like, I have no idea how you knew I was shredding in Dec..then wait...was it Amber from long road out of hell? Must be!

I wish I had found you sooner!

Now that I've completed the 3 levels of the Shred I feel like I can kick serious ass! Those sore, and to be honest, shredded, muscles I had at the beginning are like a badge of honour! Like, yeah, I went through that. I survived it. Now I am STRONGER. Yeahhh!

You must be done the Shred now, so how do you feel? I've started in on the Boot Camp DVD now and am getting the cardio one (can't remember the name) in the series. I'm hooked!
