Shreddin' Skinny Jeans.

Well, not quite skinny yet, but I did buy skinny jeans after all today. I went shopping with a friend and decided to try a more realistic outfit with them, and I dug it. Please don't mind my ugly pink boots. :) Oh! And I bought the black shirt too. I got a few other nifty items, a few pairs of boots and a fabulous sweater, but I'll share those with you soon.

Bootie:

I finished day 9 of the 30 Day Shred, and I'm starting to see some results, y'all! I know I keep talking about it, but since so many of you have told me that you went and bought the DVD or that you've ordered it, I want to give you as much info as possible.

You know how I can't do more than about 20 knee-style push ups? Well I'm still noticing my biceps have more definition. :)

My overall progress is fair, I don't feel like I'm really that much smaller, but I feel more defined or something. My waist is still 30 inches, and I really need to be down to 28 to fit into the dress. Any tips on reducing the waist? I know "they" say you can't spot-reduce, but dammit, I want to try.

~Jenn :)

Looking mighty fine!

Waist.....I think side bends work well to define the sides of the waist. Just stand straight and hold a 5-15 pound weight straight down at your leg...and bend sideways keeping your back straight and upright. Do 10 or 20 on each side...then switch the weight to the other hand and do the same.

Then...of course..all sorts of hideous crunches and stuff works for the front of the stomach. Hate it...hate it. My chiropractor swears by the dealies where you support yourself with your arms and your legs hang down...then you bring your legs up....but you need a gizmo for this.

Yeah, sidebends are really good. Also, if you have a stability ball you can do side-ways sit-ups, or turning sit-ups. Because you have the stability ball it's a ton less stress than regular sit-ups or bicycles. I love my stability ball!

The second one is the one I was talking about...the captain chair thing. We have a bar in a doorway with "ab straps" that can be used in the same way...though it is not super comfy on the arms.

Have fun!

I meant to comment before and tell you I've been rocking the skinny jeans with boots. I can't pull it off with any other shoes, but they're super cute with Uggs or knee high boots! You look great, girl!

I am so happy for you! But you really make me feel like a lazy cow! I NEED to work out!

Definitely situps switching knee to knee with your elbows, and yoga, yoga, yoga, especially twists.

If all the good ideas above don't work before you want to wear the dress...buy some Spanxs! They work wonders!

Cute skinny jeans!

As for your abs, I agree with everyone else on the twisty motions. Those work your obliques, which a lot of people forget about. If you wanna make it even more intense, hold a weight on your chest during your crunch-situp-things.

I find it hard to take a lot of people seriously when they're wearing skinny jeans - but damn! You're looking GOOOOOD.

The only way I know to reduce waist size is sit ups.

Jenn, there is a video series called Slim in 6. It's on an infomercial. The first DVD in the series is 20 minutes or so, and the second one is like 45. There are some seriously amazing sections to work your core - she is HUGE at dealing with obliques - and does a really nice mix of standing abs and floor abs.

I have never ever ever had such a quick and noticeable result in one spot, but she shrinks waists. I did the first 20 minute DVD for a few days in prep for the shred, and it really helped me be ready for level one of Jillian.

I just checked and netflix doesn't have it. But, if you are interested, I'll let you borrow mine! Yes, I will! If you do it in conjunction with the shred, you may just want to fast forward to the sections that are the standing abs and floor abs.

for me the waist was 100% food and cardio.
I did side bends (with weights. bad call but this was back in the day when dinosaurs were roaming the earth and we didnt know much better :))

are you doing planks?

I like the spanx idea too, if, as they say, you can't spot reduce.
Skinny jeans are awesome, and you are totally rocking them. And I actually quite like your boots :p

You know those bicycle abs on Cycle 3 of the first mode in 30 days to Shred? Do those while watching TV anytime a commercial comes on.

Everything everyone sugested will do wonders for your abs - which will protect your spine and help you stand straight and have more balance, but that's not going to fit you in that dres.

The only way to go from 30" to 28" in the waist = Cardio.

You're going to have to sweat and bounce and jump and run, etc.

I don't know exactly what your "diet" consists of, BUT, when I had a personal trainer my main concern was my waist/tummy. I have a MAJOR obsession with pasta. He made me give it up for 2 WHOLE WEEKS!!! :( but I saw changes in my waist line and tummy. :) perhaps something to try?

Lookin' good!

The only way to lose from your waist is cardio, plain and simple. All the sides bends in the world won't make you lose two inches from your waist. You have to burn FAT.

Love the dressing room pic and the unstaged bathroom shot.

You look great.

I am on day 4 of the shred. I am still doing modifications but hopefully by day 10 I will be able to do the full version of everything. Keep up the great work!

Holy Shreddin Skinny Jeans!!!!Dude first, the shirt kicks ass! the jeans..they look super great!!!congrats on day 9!!!!! you are doing great...rah rah rah...(that is me doing a cheer for ya!and doin butt kicks at the same time) I was also just thinking of using another exclamation mark and felt a bit odd as I have already used 12...not that the exclamation is rationed or anything - or that you aren't exclamation worthy...infact i would even revert to using exclamtion perfume again just for you and call it ex-hotgirl-clamation because you're the bees knees(exclamation point)

i dgress...anyhow, I feel the same about the shred, but i really had a VERY difficult time motivating myself to actually do it today....like, I lieterally just finished it now and I usually do it earlier. Anyhow, I am now abusing the ... so I am ending now before I totally abuse the English language, symbolic expression and the gramatical rules that we live by..!!! GAH!!!! It's like crack...I am stopping... BYE!! DAY 10 you can do it water-girl!

Well aren't you a brave little biscotti? I recently grew OUT of my skinny jeans and had to go buy, Mid west-middle jeans! Chalking it up as my winter coat as it is currently 13 degrees outside! You go girl! As I was trying on my new jeans that were 2 sizes bigger than what I usually wear, I gasped and had a mild breakdown thinking.."I'm so glad nobody can see me right now." Next time I'll take a pic and send it to ya. Hopefully not in tears! Thanks fort the post!

You're doing great! Congrats on your progress. I've learned that the best thing for your waist is cardio, which sucks. Pretty soon you'll be in your skinny jeans though! Keep up the good work.
