Sometimes a song can change your life.

I have a deep and sometimes compulsive connection with music.

What songs changed your life? Which songs (or albums) do you listen to and automatically cry, or smile a huge happy smile, or which ones take you to a place of total bliss happiness, or take you down a road deep into your memories? Which ones kill your soul and make you regret? Which ones make you want to die?

Because that's what music does to me.

A quick, huge THANK YOU to the best singer/songwriter/musicians I know of, and ANY of whose albums I cannot live without and am completely obsessed with:

Hey Jenn, have you created a playlist on iTunes for those songs? I have a similar compulsion to music and I bet I could find a few keepers in there!

It varies from time to time. Right now?

Passenger - Deftones
Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up) - Florence + The Machine
Vermillion Pt. 2 - Slipknot
The Power of Love - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Iris - GooGoo Dolls
Halo - Beyoncé

And probably many more.

I love this list. I can only come up with one song that makes my heart smile and want to cry at the same time and thats Bryan Adams, "When you love someone." It forever reminds me of my nephew when he was a baby and how he changed my life.

Also, I love movie scores. I have the Titanic movie score, the Pearl Harbor movie score, the Gladiator movie score...it goes on and on and my dad gets me instrumental music cds.

Oh my god, we are exactly alike. Stop This Train, John Mayer. I have a hard time listening to that sometimes because it's so...everything. And I LOVE Between the Lines. Little Voice is a great album.

I also love:

Can't Go Back Now - The Weepies.
Come Downstairs and Say Hello - Guster

I was recently introduced to the group Passion Pit - you might like them too!

I have a deep, deep love for music, it is my passion and the single most important thing in my life. I personally think that Bob Dylan is the greatest song writer ever. Check out my blog if you'd like, I have some Haikus and a poem I've written and an essay type thing about folk music and music in general really. I'm pretty new, so I don't have many posts but I plan to post more. So, if you like it, let me know.
