Green Smoke.
What's up!
So, today I effectively detoxed from the pizza overdose I had yesterday. I drank a crapton of water last night and had a good four hours and two venti coffees at Starbucks today. Yeah, I know coffee isn't particularly "healthy," and drinking two larges might have been overkill, but that plus water really gets things moving and helps get the water retention off of me. Also, I'm working on my post-NaNoWriMo-writing, so I'm at Starbucks a lot.
I successfully completed day 8 of the 30 Day Shred today, and admittedly went back to level 1. I am totally not ready for level 2... my arms are sisstastic. I did push myself harder on level 1, and I figure that's what I should be doing. I can do virtually the entire thing at the "hardest" modification, except I can't do normal push ups. In fact, I can't do both sets of push ups in knee-push up mode. I really am struggling with my lack of upper body strength. Any hints or clues or tips you have for increasing my push up ability would be greatly appreciated. Like, arm muscle fizzy drink. Or spreadable arm muscle cheese and sissy-no-more crackers. Or perhaps Push Up Pop Tarts. Or something.
Also, I wanted to share a little something cool with you guys, so check out my vlogadoodle below! :)

The Camera Adds 10 Pounds...
Well, first of all I'd like to thank you guys for all your sweet comments about my poop situation. Nice to know I'm not alone in five pound weight gains over two days time, and all that good stuff. Things are going fine. I'm back down to about 182.5 or so now, so we'll see how things are later this week. I need to get to jump roping so I can feel active. I'm doing so much computer/editing/album design work that I feel really, really stagnant.
And now for some videos. The camera adds 10 pounds, or so they say... For the first video I'm about to show you guys, I wanted to believe the camera added 50 pounds.
I've had a few moments of pseudo 5-minutes-of-fame type of things. I got to do a promo video for my favorite news station in Denver, Channel 7. I sent their weather man, Mike Nelson, a letter about how he was awesome and I remembered him doing a presentation on weather balloons for my 2nd grade class. The news team contacted me and asked if I would do a little interview spot. So, I did it. Here's one of the clips... I was probably at my high, or close to my high weight of 225 here:
I also was on Gimme the Mike in Denver. I wanted to show you how much freakin' thinner I was! It's amazing ... watching yourself back on video is so strange. And it really put me face to face with my weight gain. The HI-LARIOUS thing about this is right at the beginning of the clip I'm showing you guys, I say, "hopefully I haven't gained too much weight since high school," and it was after they asked if people from my home town would recognize me. The funny thing is that I knew I was thinner than my Senior year. Gah for trying to be funny, 'cause now that just pisses me off... Anyhoodle! Here is my favorite out-take clip from the raw promo footage, and the little bio they had me do. This was five years ago.
Hopefully I'll get pseudo-five-minutes-of-fame-or-more soon and will have another video to show you when I lose my last 40 pounds. :)
And now that I think about it, I'm sure I'll get comments like, "You sing?" Well, sort of. I sing in the car now. I used to sing in high school, it's all I did. These days I don't really sing at all except by myself, although I LURVE some karaoke. I'll show you a shnippet of one of the performances so you all can see. And mainly, it's to show you this freakin' dress I could fit into... I think it was a generic size medium from some random mall store. I was probably around 155-ish at this point. If that's the case, I'd like to be 10-15 pounds lighter than I am in this video as my ultimate goal weight, for a visual. And check it out, people: No bra. I was so much smaller then, holy crap. Tiny boobies.
Oh, and sorry the clip is so oddly edited. Windows Movie Maker sucks my balls. I'm getting new software, 'cause this is the only splicing of the clip it'd let me do. SuckMcSuckerson.
Adios for now!

Burrito Bobble Heads, Baseball and Boudoir.
So, first of all I need to seriously thank ALL of you guys. Your super lovely sweet comments on my no-makeup-mugshot were absolutely amazing and you really boosted my ego about 32094039 points.
Secondly, I still am waiting on friends to send me photos from my birthday trip, so I'm gonna have to hold out on posting about the trip until I get those.
Thirdly, did you know that Chipotle is doing a video contest for a new burrito idea? My good friend Jon made this video. You should watch it and vote for them! :)~ Awesome Chipotle Awesomeness with a cool song, seriously! Watch it now. ;)
Last, check out the shoot I did today with April!

Cookies and Dinner Mints and Cake Bars, Oh, CRAP!
Yeah, I had a wedding and two graduation parties this weekend! I ate a crapload of fruit, but I also ate a crapload of pasta salad, cookies, cake bar things and some wedding cake too. So, big chocolate covered kudos to those of you who went to a variety of festivities this weekend and didn't cave in. Me? I'm totally the "well, it's here and I'll do a tiny plate and have a little bit" kind of girl. Plus, since I don't eat any meat (other than fish) - I skip what might be a healthier wrap with turkey or something and instead the baked goods are safe for me.
It's tough to find a balance.
So! I'm heading back to the gym tonight. I'll post something about it here later! :)
Also, I've been wanting to post this video that my friend Hanlie posted. I can't wait for this movie!

Kick Assness and Krav.
So, I thought I'd share a video that always inspires me to work harder, be stronger and kick more ass in general. (Andrew, you'll appreciate this.)
If anyone has either heard of Krav Maga or seen the movie "Enough" - you'll know what's coming.
If anyone has thought about taking self defense classes and getting fit in the mean time... Krav Maga. Look it up and go take a class or two in your area. I guarantee you'll feel amazing and want to do it more. It's REALLY hard, so if you're extremely overweight, it might be very difficult for you. Most classes will allow you to sit out if you need to, take a break when you need to... but it's hard to do that when people are screaming at you, "HIT HARDER! FIGHT! FIGHT!!!" It's too inspirational to try to keep fighting. It was the HARDEST workout I've ever had. It's harder than any video I've ever done or any class I've ever taken. I would end up with the pass-outs, the pukes or the runs after every class. That said, it'd definitely whoop your ass Biggest Loser style. I want to take more classes after I lose another 30-40 lbs to get myself ripped.
And I know Andrew will comment here and say "Go do it NOW!" But I'm not going to dude. Running is my big love thing right now, yo. :)
Anyways, enjoy the video! It is inspiring to see a strong woman, yeh?
And I figured I should share a video of what a beginners (Level 1) class in Krav looks like. This is a video I found on YouTube, and it's pretty much exactly what the classes were. Oh, except it doesn't show the beginning of the class where they run you ragged with running, crawling, jumping, side stepping and human wheelbarrow drills until you're exhausted. Then you fight.
And after having said that, this still might not look "that" hard. Believe me. It's exhausting. And when you're hitting those pads, it's with ALL your strength. And once you feel like you just can't hit that f*king bag anymore... they will yell and yell, "KEEP FIGHTING!!!!!"
It's the toughest ass kicking workout ever.

It's Heartbreak Warfare.
Mayer Wednesday. Wait, WHAT? Yeah, It's my blog and I do what I wanna.
Naw, in all reality, guys... I saw this video - Mr. Mayer posted it something like 8 minutes ago, and I have to confess, I'm a psycho internet addicted, blog feeding frenzy freak.
I'm sharing it. He's doing a series of videos about the writing and production process of his new album, which is being completely written and done in this house he bought. Seeing John at the piano almost made me pee a little.
This is a little quote of what John says at the end of the video over some audio of one of his new songs (Heartbreak Warfare):
"This is who I am. This is the next step in the story of who I am. There's nothing better than that in the whole world, and I have to make myself go to sleep so I can do it again tomorrow."
So... do you feel that way about what you do every day? I do. And if you don't... I really hope you find that kind of happiness in your life soon. 'Cause there truly isn't anything better than that.
...Well, except maybe mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Please enjoy.

This is how I feel about Dan. So I played it for him. Then he told me the kid looked like the Devil.
I think it's hilarious and awesome.

Mayer Monday.
Yeah, it's still "Monday" 'cause I haven't gone to bed.
I thought I'd post three today.
One funny one, 'cause he's just so funny:
One in homage to the Mayercraft Carrier 2 (the cruise I'm doing in a few days). This photo will clarify the video:
And a great song... Belief. LISTEN to the words, yo. Plus it has a great interview with him. I AM glad he cut his hair.

Oh Crap! Mayer Monday on Wednesday.
I'll get the days right eventually...
So, this is a clip from his most recent DVD, and my brother Daniel and I LOVED this song because it's a throw back to his early song writing style that we are crazy about.
LOVE it.

Mayer Monday.
Yeah, I'm very aware that it's Friday. Here's the deal... I've been trying to come up with something clever like "Topless Tuesday" or "Wookie Wednesday" but couldn't figure it out.
Then I was jamming out to some John Mayer videos and wanted to share one with you guys. And then I found another one of my favorites. And then I realized I have to do Mayer Monday every week to share videos with you.
Since I missed Mayer Monday this week, I'm starting it now. When you hear the song, you'll understand why.
Also, I'm leaving on Saturday the 21st to go to California - that's where I'm going to chill in San Diego for a few days and then I leave to go on the Mayercraft Carrier. It's a John Mayer cruise with a big show and lots of other musicians and such. I can't wait. :) So I wanted to start Mayer Monday early in honor of my upcoming time with the Man himself. ;)
By the way, he's single again, so that has raised my chances by about .00004 percent. I'm stoked.
And for any of you who aren't familiar with John Mayer's music, his style varies from acoustic singer/song writer to bluesy jammin' guitar guy. My Mom says he reminds her of a young, modern Neil Diamond. I freakin' love Neil Diamond, so it makes sense to me.
If you've ever loved a man you were in a relationship with but he wouldn't commit to you and it ended... this song will probably make you cry. It's awesome. The first time I heard it, it was 2am or something a few years ago and I saw this special on PBS. I was on my knees in the living room watching it and I just bawled and bawled.
My favorite line:
"Just because I said I didn't want her,
doesn't mean I want her to go.
In fact I quite depended on her but
That I didn't want her to know"
Hummingbird by John Mayer

Dr. Steven Bratman and Orthorexia Nervosa
I recently discovered that my favorite Doc in Colorado, Steven Bratman M.D., is an author and coined the term "Orthorexia Nervosa" to describe people overly obsessed with eating healthy food.
I wanted to share this video with you. It's a spot from 20/20 and features bits of an interview with Dr. Bratman.
I purchased his book, "Health Food Junkies" and will be reviewing it on my blog within the next few weeks. In the mean time you can watch this video. It's really interesting. Though I think I'll mention that Dr. Bratman says not to take this video too seriously. 20/20 has a tendency to cut and paste a lot of different things to make the story what they want it to be. On that note, he also told me that Johnny is definitely Anorexic as opposed to having Orthorexia. But, it's an intro for you at the least, and I found it to be intriguing.
If you want a jumpstart on the book, you can pick one up here at Amazon.com. Oh, and don't forget to visit Dr. Bratman's website here.
