Mestizo Monday.

I have been slacking on my Music Monday posts... but I wanted to do one early while I'm thinking about it.

If you haven't heard of this band yet, you truly should check them out. Their name is Mestizo, and they have a very Jack Johnson/John Mayer acoustic awesomeness. They just released a new CD, and you can buy it at: http://cdbaby.com/cd/mestizo.

Plus, the guys are all cute. Seriously, aren't they just adorable? You can't beat it.

Visit their Myspace page to have a listen to their sound. I can't get enough of the song "Fade" right now. Seriously, I'm a little obsessed with it. Oh, and their song "Playin'" off of the new album might just be in my top 10 favorite songs of all time.

Oh yeah, and their website is www.mestizorocks.com.

Oh, and here's a little video montage of some photos of the band to one of their earlier songs called "Little Things" - it's a great song!

Mraz Monday

I've decided to roll with a variety of Artists with M names. :)

Please enjoy this awesome performance of "I'm Yours" - the audio is off from the video, but trust me, it's worth it. :) Plus there's a little bit of interview here if you like Mr. Mraz as much as I do. He's ahhhhdorable. :)

Missy Monday.

So, I'm taking a break from Mayer Monday and subbing out the amazing Missy Higgins.

This song is called "Steer." - I was listening to it in the car the other day and it makes me want to sob with happiness. This song encompasses the brilliance and joy in finally realizing you can do what you love and control your life.

Here are the words:

"Steer"

Feel it falling off like clothing
Taste it rolling on your tongue
See the lights above you glowing
Oh and breathe them deep into your lungs

It was always simple, not hidden hard
You've been pulling at the strings playing puppeteer for kings
And you've had enough

But the search ends here
Where the night is totally clear
And your heart is fierce
So now you finally know that you control where you go
You can steer

So hold this feeling like a newborn
Of freedom surging through your veins
You are opening a new door
So bring on the wind, fire and rain

It was always simple, not hidden hard
You've been played at a game called remembering your name
And you stuffed it up

But the search ends here
Where the night is totally clear
And your heart is fierce
So now you finally know that you control where you go
You can steer

'Cause you've been listening for answers
But the city screams and all your dreams go unheard

But the search ends here
Where the night is totally clear
And your heart is fierce
So now you finally know that you control where you go
You can steer
Yeah, get out of the box and step into the clear
'Cause now you finally know you can steer

Mayer Monday.

Today I'd like to welcome my guest blogger, John Mayer!

Yeah. This is actually one of the columns he wrote for Esquire a long time ago, but it inspires me, and I hope it inspires you. Get ready for a new variety of Mayer Monday.

This is Your Life, The Mix Tape.

A few weeks ago I was lying in bed in my hotel room, falling asleep to my XM satellite radio, when I decided to spend some time on the '40s station. I was looking for the oldest music I could find. I'm obsessed with time lately, constantly crunching the numbers to get some sense of where I stand in the continuum. I instantly thought of my dad, who would be able to call out the artist and title of every song that played as if they were hits today. And then I wondered, where in his life was he when he first heard Art Mooney's "Bluebird of Happiness"?

So I sent him an e-mail. "I would love to hold a mix CD of the songs you remember most from your youth," I wrote. "Would you think about it and tell me some names and titles? How cool would that be for me to fall asleep to a record of all the tunes you loved growing up?" The more I thought about it, the more I needed to have it. Your life's soundtrack is your fingerprint, tracing all the individual way points, taking into account all the curveballs, surprises, and heartbreaks.

Dad wrote me back the next morning. "The first song that I can remember hearing is 'The Music Goes 'Round and Around,' by Tommy Dorsey. ('I blow through here / the music goes round and round / whoa-ho-ho-ho/and it comes out here.') The first piece of sheet music I ever bought was 'Serenade in the Night.' My first record was 'Tales from the Vienna Woods.' I bought it secondhand, and it had a crack in it. When I hear the song played now, I still unconsciously expect it to repeat over and over at the point of the crack."

So I went to iTunes and downloaded all three. I won't tell you what they sound like, because it won't mean anything to you. You have to know my dad. But I can tell you this: All the megapixels in the universe won't capture what asking your parents for a list of the music that moves them can. I'm nine minutes into "Tales from the Vienna Woods" and I can smell the house my father was born in. And with more of his memories to come, I can't stop crunching the numbers.

And here's a fun vid for any Lady Ga Ga fans or Ellen fans out there. (Travis Wilson, I'm talkin' to you.)

Enjoy,

Mayer Monday

Yeah, well ... whatever. I missed a lot of things this week, including my Idol recap because I was on a freakin' plane and I don't have DVR.

So, I'm gonna have to try to catch up on AI via youtube or something tonight.

In the mean time, enjoy this and feel free to wish you were Elmo right along with me.

I'll be back later with lots of photos and hopefully some videos from the trip.

Mayer Monday.

Yeah, it's still "Monday" 'cause I haven't gone to bed.

I thought I'd post three today.

One funny one, 'cause he's just so funny:

One in homage to the Mayercraft Carrier 2 (the cruise I'm doing in a few days). This photo will clarify the video:

And a great song... Belief. LISTEN to the words, yo. Plus it has a great interview with him. I AM glad he cut his hair.

Oh Crap! Mayer Monday on Wednesday.

I'll get the days right eventually...

So, this is a clip from his most recent DVD, and my brother Daniel and I LOVED this song because it's a throw back to his early song writing style that we are crazy about.

LOVE it.

Mayer Monday.

Yeah, I'm very aware that it's Friday. Here's the deal... I've been trying to come up with something clever like "Topless Tuesday" or "Wookie Wednesday" but couldn't figure it out.

Then I was jamming out to some John Mayer videos and wanted to share one with you guys. And then I found another one of my favorites. And then I realized I have to do Mayer Monday every week to share videos with you.

Since I missed Mayer Monday this week, I'm starting it now. When you hear the song, you'll understand why.

Also, I'm leaving on Saturday the 21st to go to California - that's where I'm going to chill in San Diego for a few days and then I leave to go on the Mayercraft Carrier. It's a John Mayer cruise with a big show and lots of other musicians and such. I can't wait. :) So I wanted to start Mayer Monday early in honor of my upcoming time with the Man himself. ;)

By the way, he's single again, so that has raised my chances by about .00004 percent. I'm stoked.

And for any of you who aren't familiar with John Mayer's music, his style varies from acoustic singer/song writer to bluesy jammin' guitar guy. My Mom says he reminds her of a young, modern Neil Diamond. I freakin' love Neil Diamond, so it makes sense to me.

If you've ever loved a man you were in a relationship with but he wouldn't commit to you and it ended... this song will probably make you cry. It's awesome. The first time I heard it, it was 2am or something a few years ago and I saw this special on PBS. I was on my knees in the living room watching it and I just bawled and bawled.

My favorite line:
"Just because I said I didn't want her,
doesn't mean I want her to go.
In fact I quite depended on her but
That I didn't want her to know"
