Crash Diet Memories

So I've been thinking lately of all the different types of diets I've been on. Not all of them were crash diets, but I've been on quite a few.

Diets I've tried:
Cabbage soup diet (at least three times)
Raw diet
Low calorie diet
Atkins (Lost 50 pounds, gained it back plus 15)

Haven't tried:
Baby food diet
Cookie diet
Wine and cheese diet
Beer and pizza diet

Ha!

So I'm curious, what diets have you tried, what worked or didn't work? What was your favorite?

Atkins was definitely my favorite. Def, definitely. K-Mart sucks.

I'm currently on the whole grain goldfish and lightly salted peanuts diet...

Ha! I've totally done the beer and pizza diet! Turns out ... it didn't work! I know, weird right?

I did the Scarsdale diet once, I think it's a lot like the first stage of Atkins? I made me really dizzy all the time though. I also did South Beach, briefly, which I like in theory, but I can't really deal with having my food list restricted. That's why I'm a die-hard Weight Watcher now. :)

Atkins (real Atkins where you actually follow the plan and reintroduce way more veggies and fruits and stuff!) is by far my favorite diet plan, and is the one I follow.

I tried WW for a month, and it was nice but had some negative health effects for me so it didn't work out.

I've also done the Carb Addicts Diet, but it turns out I couldn't handle the "reward meal."

I've also done the Standard American Diet, but, you know, that's the one that got me fat in the first place and left me looking at those others... :)

Counting calories and doing exercise is the way of life that's been working for me. but that explains why i lack a sense of humor and can't think of anything witty to say :/

When I was 17, for 3 months I ate nothing but two bowls of ceral a day(Lucky Charms.) I dropped weight so fast and my only exercise was walking an hour every day.

I agree with Kate - the real Atkins Diet was great for me, but I am doing the South Beach Diet, and I think I like it more. Basically, the low glycemic index approach works very well for me.

Right now I'm into lentils. Not making them into a crazy crash diet, but trying to incorporate larger quantities into my regular diet to replace junk food. It could be a good fit because, surprisingly, it turns out I love lentils and they're supposed to be ridiculously healthy.

I think the only sustainable change will come from a lifestyle makeover.

I've lost 50 lbs. in three months by exercising daily, cutting as much processed food out of my diet as possible and simply eating more sensibly.

I think the reason for my success is that I have never dieted. I was just fine with who I was for a long long time. Then I wasn't, and I did something about it.

I've tried a lot of different things....cutting out carbs, cutting out sugar, not eating at all, eating 500 calories a day. Needless to say, none of those things worked. I've never done anything like Weight Watchers, or Atkins, simply because I can't afford it.

So my diet now is really just everything in moderation, and trying to eat as many fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains as I can. It seems to be working.
