Get rid of my dead rats. I'll buy you McDonalds.

Quick update: Weigh in: 189. Sick check: Still phlegming and coughy.

So, on to the good stuff. I came across this gem of a post on Craigslist today. I am going to copy and paste it because I don't know if it'll be up much longer.

Had a rat problems and solved it by using the rat poison. The rats died somewhere in my bedroom wall and I can't find it but I can smell it it is not too good. I need some body who has experience finding where in wall the dead rats is and then taking them out it without breaking the walls. Maybe some guy who is poor they are more likely to have experience with the rats. Im not really able to pay too much for this would treat you to McDonald's it is close to my home. Besides, this is good experience for you if you are in the business. I would be willing to tell all your other customers what a great job you did with my rat. You could give them my cell number and as soon as my phone gets turned back on it would be like you have free advertising. I dispertly need some guys help right away cause my girlfriend won't sleep over anymore till I get rid of the smell and cleanup other things around my home and get a job soon. She used to go out with my brother and Im scared she will go back with him cause he don't have rats in his house. Dont worry if I dont answer you right away cause Im using my friends computer I dont have one. Give me your number and ill call you back and tell you where the house is. Thanks.

This is the funniest thing I've ever read on Craigslist. This is awesome. AWESOME. I salute whoever wrote it. Whether it's real (which I doubt) or fake (which is hilarious...) THANK YOU, OP.

This is the frame of mind people who ask for free work really must be in. It's how I feel when people ask me to take photos of them, help them build their "modeling portfolio," photograph their family, whatever for free. "I'll tell everyone how awesome you are!" Oh, that's how it works? Fabulous. Do me a favor, next time you need to get your car fixed, tell the same thing to the mechanic and see what he tells you, or where he tells you to stick your exhaust pipe. Mmmkay? Thanks.

No other news to report, just had to share this with you guys 'cause it is hilarious. Oh, and don't worry. I already nominated it for the Best of Craigslist. ;)

Top Ten Things That Don't Cause Arthritis.

Sometimes I like to go to msn.com and click on the "health and fitness" section just to see what's new out there in the health and fitness world. Lots of times I'll find articles about how to perfect your sunless tan or how to do better dead lifts, but today I found an article that caught my eye.

This article had a ton of promise, but wound up sorely disappointing.

It was entitled "Top Ten Things That Don't Cause Arthritis."

Now, I expected this to be an awesome article, full of funny things, but it wasn't. It just WASN'T. No, it sure as hell wasn't. Instead, it had real and medically based things like:

Cracking knuckles: Although you can injure a joint by overenthusiastic knuckle cracking, there is rather convincing evidence that regular knuckle cracking has little effect on joint health.

Okay, well I kind of DID think that cracking your knuckles could lead to arthritis, and I'm glad to know this little tidbit. Maybe this wasn't the best example. But I'm telling you, I expected the list to look like this instead:

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches: Although there has
been some speculation that obsessive eaters of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches might actually be setting themselves up for arthritis due to constant and repeated lid opening, knife dipping, and condiment smearing, there is actually no proof that eating copious amounts of PB&J's will actually cause arthritis.

I am pretty sure we could come up with a much more bomb list. We're writers. We're funny. Help me out here, folks. I'm gonna post a much, much better list of things that don't cause arthritis once I've got nine more.

Ready, set, comment.

Track it!

Hey guys!

I thought I'd share a new website I found where you can track your diet and fitness. I know a lot of us use spark or Livestrong, but this one will give you another option. :)

http://www.fitclick.com

It's free and they allow you to create your own workouts or you can use the website to customize one for you. It tracks your weight, bmi and your eating as well! :) You can also look at workouts and diets created by other users if you struggle to put together your own plan. The cool thing about it is that you can change or adjust things as you go along once you figure out if it does or doesn't work well with your body, schedule or whatever! :)

Cyclopses, Jedi's and Taxidermy.

Read this, then you'll understand what I'm talking about.

If you ever wanted to feel inspired to quit your job, this article is for you. It won't give you warm and fuzzy feelings about how "it'll all be okay"... nope. But what it will do, is make you wanna go, "HELL YEAH!"

This woman quit her job to give herself a year to be a writer. I love it.

Ugh, I'm pathetic. But do I ever love him.

*Edit* - This is John Mayer in case anyone didn't recognize him. He cut his hair really short. :)

Breaking the Negative Self Talk Cycle

So, I was reading up at Scale Junkie today and decided to take the challenge to write down ten positive things about myself.

"Big whoop, we do that on facebook every day when we get tagged."

Yeah, well... for "normal", non food-obsessed folks, it's a little easier. When you get caught in the yo-yo-diet trap and are constantly obsessing over your numbers, weight, flaws, flab and fatness, it gets progressively more and more difficult.

As time moves along I find myself engaging in self hate talk and thoughts. "I'm so fat." "Yeah, look at these thunder thighs!" "I couldn't fit into that in 100 years." "I'm so disgusting."

And it continues. Now, it's not that it happens all the time, but it happens a lot. Nobody's partner should have to continually say, "You're not fat." Especially one who calls you beautiful all the time. :)

So. Here I go.

* When I have clear rules, I'm REALLY good at following an eating plan.
* I try to exceed my trainer's expectations, and usually do
* I keep a good sense of humor, even if I fail
* I am a loving partner and loving kitty momma
* I have a capacity to learn and will seek new information daily
* I can read 100 pages an hour, so I can read a new book almost every day
* I am a talented photographer
* I am a good writer, dammit, and I will finish my book
* I'm a good cook, and can make healthy meals for myself and Dan every day
* I feel really proud of myself and happy after I've worked out

And now I'll say what she said:

Your turn, even if it hurts, even if it causes some discomfort, write a list of positive things that are true about you. I wrote 10, you can write more or less but do at least 6 and really push yourself out of that comfort zone and look inside of yourself for this list. You don’t have to share them if you don’t want but I really REALLY hope you do! Looking a little deeper sometimes provides the push that we need.

Help me stop a tragedy.

My friend Wes is considering not continuing on with writing his blog because he doesn't get a lot of comments. Go over there and comment on his entry so he doesn't stop writing. And check out his blog regularly, too.

Love Shout Outs...

I was perusing my traffic and noticed that Mike over at Zumewalk gave me a sweet shout-out!

Gah! I love that.

Make sure you go check him out - he's got loads of great things to say, most recently I saw his discussion on The Biggest Loser.

I also want to clarify and make sure (for those of you who are new readers and haven't followed the recipe posting from the beginning) that I'm posting these recipes from the book "Quick & Healthy Recipes and Ideas" by Brenda J. Ponichtera. She was also kind enough to stop by my blog and comment on the first entry I did! :)

I do also post recipes from other people such as my trainer, or ones I come up with on my own - and those will be individually noted as such. :)

Does This Blog Make Us Look Fat?

Okay, so I know I've mentioned my obsessive habit of searching for weight loss and/or diet blogs. I don't know exactly what it is, but something about knowing I'm not the only one out there really makes me feel happy. I have nosed around different forums before, and that doesn't quite do it for me for some reason. I think there's a whole other world going on with bloggers (Can I put myself in this category yet? I feel like I need to have been doing this for a year before I can call myself a "Blogger".)-- Bloggers have a different level of commitment and obsession with this thing. And, most of them (the good ones, at least) are writers. That in and of itself gets them into my good book.

And, speaking of my good book, the fabulous folks down at Does This Blog Make US Look Fat? gave me a shout-out at their blog.

I appreciate that... 'cause a girl wants to boost her circulation, ya know what I'm saying??? ;)

So, if you're a blog junkie like me, go check them out. Their blog has a really great style, it's organized, and way easy to get hooked on. Especially if you like those old fashioned cartoon clips with attitude. Well... you'll just have to go check it out for yourself. ;)
