NSV: Some brown pants.

FIRST! I want to know how many of you guys have actually FINISHED the 30 Day Shred. I got it, and I totally didn't finish it. I didn't even come close to finishing it. BUT, I've lost about 40 pounds since I tried it last and I think I might be able to do it this time. I'd love to lose as much weight as possible before my next trip home and I'm thinking that the 30 Day Shred might be a good way to do it. I've got exactly 30 days before I'm leaving to go back to Denver!

So, I'd LOVE to hear from any of you who have done it, and what your experience was. What'd ya lose? Inches? Pounds? Gain muscle definition? Get more energy?

Today Dan and I had dinner with his family and stopped by the studio to get some of our winter clothes out of storage. I found a fabulous pair of brown corduroy pants I haven't worn in years, and I went ahead and grabbed them along with a few other dresses, skirts and shirts. I decided to try on the pants when I got home, and voila! They fit! Now these pants are made with a kind of stretchy material and the front buttons looked a little angry, but dammit, they fit. I made Dan take a picture of me being all goofy happy with the pants on for you all to see! :)

Someone asked what size they are. They're a brand called "Silver Jeans" and say 33/33 on the tag. I used to wear these when I was a size 10 and they were slightly loose on me, but still a comfortable fit. Tonight they're pretty tight, but ya know!

My measurements as of this morning are:

39/31/40

Oh! And yes, that's the green sweater I found at the thrift store, and yes it's one of my favorites now. Best $2.36 I ever spent!

I also got some weight loss compliments from the family and it made my freakin' day. Dan's brother in law (who is gorgeous, and totally a fitness nut) said, "You look great!" It meant a lot to me because I always consider him to be soooooo into fitness, and I felt really slovenly around him. It was always in the back of my head that he'd look at me and think, "tsk, tsk, tsk!" Though he's always sweet and very nice... it just meant a lot. Dan's Mom said, "I told him that you should always tell a woman she looks great and ask if she's losing weight, 'cause even if she's not it'll make her feel good!" I'm not sure that works for everyone, but it made me feel good because I happen to be losing weight.

I was at the bar a few weeks ago with Dan and his friend Dustin.

We were hanging out and Dustin said, "You know you're looking really good Jenn. When I was here last (a year ago) you were looking kind of..." and he made a round gesture with his hands. A girl at the bar with us gasped and said, "Hey! That's not very nice." I'm sure some people could have gotten offended at that, but I took it as a compliment and said, "No, no, I appreciate the honesty." I wonder if I would have appreciated the honesty if he'd said I was looking (round gesture) while I still looked (round gesture.)

Well! Just wanted to give you guys a quicky update. Tomorrow I will be blogging about Thanksgiving and how to deal with the eminent mountains of food!

~Jenn

You look so good. Those people are right and the compliments are deserved - you have been working hard.

I have done the 30-day shred for about 20 days and it was good. I wasn't really trying to lose weight, just gain tone so I didn't measure inches. I did feel like my arms were more toned through.

It is also good for people who don't like working out b/c it's only 20 minutes. The only problem is that you really will get sore at first so doing it everyday is hard. I consider myself in pretty good shape, so level one was boring after a couple days but level two was really tough for me. I'll look forward to seeing how it goes for you and maybe it will encourage me to do it during the holidays - maybe a good thing to go do when family is boring but it's too cold to go outside! (And to feel hot in a New Year's outfit, right?)

I am trying to find the DVD so I can do the 30 day shred...did a 12 week challenge that I totally cheated with booze way too much. No will power, lost 10 kgs but if I'd behaved I would have lost maybe 13kg (27 pounds). Doh!

Yay! Finding something that fits is always a big boost. And yay for the comments, they must make you feel positive about how you're doing so far.
I have a gorgeous pair of brown plaid flared trousers that I WILL NOT get rid of, I will fit into them again one day!!!

I have never shred a day in my life.

I NEEEEEEEEEED to shake things up around here.

Compliments are great motivators, aren't they? I don't know anything about the 30-day shred as I'm new to fitness blogging, but it sounds like an intense program-and I'm all about intense workouts. Sounds like a good plan.

Congratulations on all the compliments! I'm so happy for you! It does feel great when people notice...the extra motivation helps.

I have the 30 day shred but I have not completed it...I think I did two weeks of it. Boy I was sore as hell the first week but totally worth it.I really enjoy this workout and it is 20 minutes which fits into my busy day. To add to the intensity I wear a waist trimmer and it helps my tummy area sweat it out. I definitely feel the definition in my sides after doing it only a few days.

I'm looking forward to reading the comments because I bought 30 Day Shred but slacked off after a few days, so lame I know. But if I hear through comments that it really works that should be good motivation for me to see it through to the end

Compliments and smaller clothes... ahhhh, that's what makes all the hard work and effort pay off.

Way to do this thang, Jenn.

I can't wait to read these comments. I have 30 day shred but only did it for a week before I got lazy. But if people start saying it really works, that would be a huge motivator for me!

Yay for you and you weight loss successes! I've never done the 30 day shred, but I'm sure you can do it! I love programs like that, because they keep you on task and working hard (at least, that's what they do for me!)

I have done it before. I lost inches and gained more muscle. But lost just a few pounds, which is perfect for me.

I have 30 Day Shred..and I did it for about 20 days. I was able to lose about 2 inches in 10 days from my middle..and I over all felt stronger! Since I never finished I don't know what pounds I lost..but I think after 10 days I'd lost 4lbs...so that's pretty good! I'd say, give it a try again, you never know! And if it takes you 60 days to finish it, that's okay too!!! At least you've gotten 15 great workouts in before coming back to our lovely Colorado! :)

I did the shred for about a week and was really sore but I really liked it. Ready to get started again... but wow, doesn't sound like anyones make it through a whole month! :)

My plan for dealing with Thanksgiving food:

Skipping it to lay in my pajamas on the couch with B all day and order Chinese.

I am STOKED.

I love the 30 Day Shred and all things Jillian. I worship at the altar of Jillian Michaels.

I lost 7 pounds doing the shred, a lot of inches, and gained muscle and strength. Stick with it, don't give up, and remember to move up a level once it becomes easy for you. I do level 3 still every once in a while, when I need a quick workout. Feel free to curse at Jillian and her buff friends. I frequently tell her to fuck off.

Congrats! Isn't that the best feeling in the world? Fitting into your 'skinny' clothes and then getting compliments on top of it. Yay!
I have many levels of skinny clothes in my closet. If I could actually control myself for any significant length of time, I might be able to put them to use.
So far, I'm just starting out (for the hundredth time) but I'll get there.
Thanks for inspiring!
